I grew up and was educated in Auckland and graduated from Auckland Medical School in 1990. I gained experience in community and hospital medicine while working overseas for several years. My interest in primary healthcare was first sparked by time spent working in a remote Australian General Practice.
I have been working as a General Practitioner in central Auckland since 1996. I was a founding director of CityMed Medical Centre. I am a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
I have a post graduate diploma in Community Emergency Medicine. Being a keen sportsman, I have developed a particular interest in Sports Medicine, and have postgraduate training in this field. I am competent at investigating and managing sports related problems. I was the team doctor for several syndicates during Americas Cup regattas in Auckland.
I have three teenage children, and enjoy pursuing many interests outside of medicine.
I work part-time at CityMed and am available for General Practice consultations as well as full personal medicals. I also perform NZ immigration and insurance medicals. My special interests are in acute accident medical care, sports medicine and men's health. Nowhere is the need for Preventative Medicine greater than in the area of Men’s Health.
